  French Law Firms

There are many French law firms throughout the country to assist you with any legal issues you may encounter in France. There are only two types of lawyers permitted to set up in private practice: "avocats" and "notaires". As a general rule, Notaires deal with the conveyance of real property, and with testamentary matters such as the drafting of wills and the settling of estates. On the other hand, an Avocat would undertake litigation in civil and criminal matters, and would generally be equated to a trial lawyer in the United States.

Within both professions, there is a small group that specializes in corporate matters. It is imperative that a company or individual planning to do business in France consults French law firms consisting of professionals that meet their needs.
