Shortly after the “Mediator” scandal (Benfluorex), the French government and notably its then Health Minister Xavier Bertrand decided to implement new rules on the transparency between the pharmaceutical industry and health care professionals.
This new legislation was very much inspired by the US Sunshine Act.
The Loi Bertrand (n° 2011-2012) also known as the “French Sunshine Act” was adopted on 29 December 2011.
